Join the official Opening Ceremony of the XXXI Interna-
tional Congress of the IAP and the 28th Congress of the
ESP in the Plenary Hall 11.3 of Congress-Centrum Ost
Koelnmesse. During the ceremony, there will be words of
welcome by the Congress Presidents and entertainment.
The Opening Ceremony will be followed by a Welcome
Reception in the technical exhibition in Hall 11.3 of Con-
gress-Centrum Ost Koelnmesse.

Cologne Cathedral
The Congress Concert will take place at the renowned
Cologne Cathedral. The construction of the Cologne Cathe-
dral started in 1248 and was halted in 1473. The work
restarted in the 19th century and was completed in 1880.
The cathedral is the largest Gothic church in Northern
Europe. Its two huge spires have characterized the city's
skyline since their completion. Today the cathedral still is
Cologne's second-tallest structure. Due to the building's
impressive German Catholicism and Gothic architecture,
the shrine of the Three Kings, the outstanding stained-
glass windows and the many other important works of
art, the Cologne Cathedral was listed as UNESCO World
Heritage Site in 1996.
Enjoy a concert at the Cologne Cathedral by cathedral or-
ganist Winfried Bönig, who became organist of Cologne
Cathedral in 2001, enjoys worldwide recognition and ac-
cepts invitations that lead him to organ blessings and pre-
mieres in China, Russia and Spain. In addition, he is also a
conductor. His recordings on the Cologne Cathedral organ
attract great attention.

The Grand Finale of the the XXXI International Congress of
the IAP and the 28 th Congress of the ESP will take place at
Tanzbrunnen Köln. It is located close to Congress-Centrum
Ost Koelnmesse, directly at the River Rhine. The stunning
panorama of the Old Town with Cologne's famous land-
mark, the Cologne Cathedral, forms the backdrop of this
farewell evening with a buffet dinner, entertainment and
dancing.
