How to get from the airport to the congress

venue (Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre)

The greater area of Glasgow has three airports: Glasgow

International Airport, 8 miles from the city centre of Glas-

gow, Glasgow Prestwick Airport, 50 minutes by direct train

to Glasgow city centre and Edinburg International Airport,

45 minutes by coach transfer.

From Glasgow International Airport:

More than 100 world-wide destinations are linked to Glas-

gow International Airport incl. nonstop services from Dubai,

New York and Philadelphia. Regular coach shuttles are con-

necting the airport with the city centre. Duration depending

on traffic 20–30 minutes. Taxis are available at the airport,

taxi fare approx. £ 25–35 per way.

From Glasgow Prestwick Airport:

Prestwick airport is mainly used by “no frill” airlines and

connected by regular rail link to Glasgow city centre. Travel

duration: 50 minutes.

From Edinburgh International Airport:

The Edinburgh airport is well connected to all major European

hubs. A regular coach shuttle service is running every

30 minutes between Edinburgh airport and Glasgow city

centre, duration 60 minutes, distance 50 km.

Public transportation

The Exhibition Centre station is the SECC's own dedicated

railway station allowing easy access from the city centre

and the suburbs. Six trains per hour (around every 10 mi-

nutes) from Central station (Platform 17 is on the lower

level) will bring you to Exhibition Centre station in a jour-

ney time of just three minutes. The 100 Riversider bus

service runs from George Square (north) in Glasgow city

centre to the SECC, then Riverside Museum and return,

every 30 minutes.

Car park

Parking space is available next to the SECC and participants

arriving by car are advised to use these facilities. Parking

fees are not included in the registration fee.

Taxis

There is a Glasgow taxis rank (Hackney) pick-up and drop-off

point at the east entrance adjacent to the Clyde auditorium.

There are taxi ranks throughout the city. Main pick-up points

include Buchanan Bus Station, Queen Street and Central

Stations and most large hotels. A one way trip from the city

centre will cost approx. £5.00.
