17 ESP / IAP 2020 · Glasgow e CONGRESS LANGUAGE The official language of the 32 nd Congress of the ESP and XXXIII International Congress of the IAP is English. e LETTER OF INVITATION The congress organisation will be pleased to send a formal letter of invitation to delegates requesting an invitation let- ter for visa purposes. You can apply for an invitation let- ter online during the registration process on the congress website. The letters will be sent as e-mail attachments. It is understood that such an invitation is intended to help potential delegates to raise funds or to obtain a visa. This does not imply a commitment from the congress orga- nisers to provide any financial support. e VISA The entry formalities for Great Britain/Scotland vary ac- cording to the country of origin. Congress delegates are asked to address enquiries about entry and vaccination requirements to the travel agent or to the local British consulate in the home country. All partici- pants should arrange their own insurance. Health and ac- cident insurance is recommended and has to be purchased in your country of origin. e CURRENCY The official currency of Great Britain is the British Pound (GBP). Prior to the congress, payments will only be ac- cepted in EURO. e CLIMATE IN GLASGOW Despite its northerly latitude, Glasgow's climate is classi- fied as oceanic. The day-time temperature in December ranges between 3 and 7 °C. Rain is possible. e CITY OF GLASGOW Glasgow is a vibrant and compact city with plenty to offer to delegates outside of conference sessions. The city has a range of cultural attractions, including many museums and art galleries offering free entry, such as the stunning Kelv- ingrove Art Gallery and Museum and the award-winning Riverside Museum. Visitors can explore the works of artist and architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, walk the city centre Art Mural Trail, or take a stroll through one of the many parks and green spaces. Glasgow is a UNESCO City of Music with over 150 live mu- sic events per week, plus a full calendar of other exciting events and festivals throughout the year. The food and drink scene offers something for everyone, from traditional whisky pubs to fine dining, in a variety of lively neighbour- hoods, including Finnieston (SEC), the City Centre, the West End and Merchant City. Delegates can look forward to a warm welcome in a city voted ‘the world’s friendliest city’ by Rough Guides. If you are extending your stay, Glasgow has excellent travel con- nections for exploring Scotland and an exciting selection of year-round tours leaving daily for the Scottish High- lands.
