4 ECP 2019 · Nice Welcome Address Dear Colleague, On behalf of the European Society of Pathology (ESP) and the French Society of Pathology we would like to welcome you to Nice, for the 31 st European Congress of Pathology (ECP 2019). The theme for the ECP 2019 is direct and easy to memorise: “Pathology is Nice”. This week Nice is the capital of Europe- an and International Pathology, where pathologists and their collaborators, molecular biologists, geneticists, bioinformati- cians, and information technologists meet to share advances in our discipline that offers diagnostic, prognostic and predic- tive information essential for best patient care. For ECP 2019, the ESP working groups have prepared state- of-the-art organ-based sessions while collaborating patholo- gy and clinical scientific societies interact in joint scientific events. The energetic ESP Trainee Subcommittee has planned sessions attractive for junior pathologists, while special sessions focusing on advances in molecular pathology, in- formation technology, quality assessment, education, histo- technology and public awareness complete the diverse pro- gramme. Every day, a keynote lecture by distinguished inter- national experts highlights burning issues in pathology and beyond. We envisage exciting oral free paper and best poster sessions where novel translational research will be presented, while difficulties in the diagnosis of rare disease entities are discussed in poster sessions. Attending the 31 st ECP will also give you the opportunity to learn more about the Capital of the French Riviera, ideally lo- cated between the Mediterranean Sea and the Alps in a land- scape of incomparable natural beauty.
