Scientific Information/ Format Descriptions
Plenary Lectures
Plenary lecturers present 45 minute talks at
the beginning of each morning and after-
noon session Monday to Wednesday. A ple-
nary lecture will close the Congress on
Thursday. These speakers are chosen in rec-
ognition of their exceptional achievements in
basic or clinical research and the talks will
include material of interest to both basic sci-
ence and clinical audiences.
Debates
During the 60-minute debate current con-
troversial issues will be introduced and dis-
cussed. One moderator and two discus-
sants (pro and con) will raise interactive
and lively debate.
Symposia
Symposia of two-hour duration cover latest
advances in basic and clinical neuropsycho-
pharmacology, biological psychiatry, drug
development, public policy issues relevant to
the field, mental health, mental illness and
treatment outcome. Each symposium is
scheduled for 120 minutes and consists of
four speakers. A presentation time of 22 min-
utes plus 8 minutes for discussions are
scheduled for each speaker.
Educational Workshops
Educational Workshops are sessions, which
typically involve brief presentations from in-
dividual panel members, followed by the op-
portunity for lively and informative discus-
sion on educational goals in the field of
neuropsychopharmacology. This format pro­
vides substantial audience participation in
education and science and should be highly
interactive.
Scientific Workshops
Scientific Workshops are sessions, which
typically involve brief presentations from indi-
vidual panel members, followed by the oppor-
tunity for lively and informative discussion.

Clinical Perspectives
Clinical Perspective sessions typically involve
brief presentations from individual panel
members from a clinical perspective, fol-
lowed by the opportunity for lively and infor-
mative discussion. This format provides sub-

and science and should be highly interactive.
Personal Perspective
Personal Perspective sessions typically involve
brief presentations from a personal perspective
from highly experienced scientists, followed by
the opportunity for lively and informative dis-
cussion. This format provides substantial audi-
ence participation in education and science
and should be highly interactive.
Poster Sessions
These sessions offer an effective forum for
the exchange of information and a means to
communicate ideas, research, and pro-
grammes. Poster authors will present and
discuss their results in these highly interac-
tive sessions in various fields.
